How to found a civic association
If you decide to found an association on your own, we have prepared a clear guide for you.
Set up a preparatory committee
You must have at least three members, with at least one over 18 years of age. Choose a committee member who will act as the authorised representative on behalf of the committee (must have permanent residence in the Slovak Republic).
Draw up the association's statutes
The statutes must contain: the name of the association, its registered office, the purpose of its activity, the bodies of the association and the manner of their establishment, and the principles of its financial management.
Prepare the registration proposal
Fill in the details of the preparatory committee members, the authorised representative and the statutory body. The proposal must be signed by all members of the preparatory committee.
Pay the administrative fee
The administrative fee for registration is 100 €. Payment can be made via an e-stamp at the post office or through a web application.
Submit the registration proposal
Submit the proposal in person or by post to the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic (public administration section). You will need 2 copies of the statutes and proof of payment.
Wait for the registration authority's response
The Ministry has a deadline for registration. If everything is in order, it will send you one copy of the statutes with the registration date and company ID marked.
Open a bank account
With the confirmed statutes and an assigned company ID you can visit a bank and open an account for the association.
Register at the tax office
If the association will carry out business activity or employ people, registration at the tax office is required to obtain a tax ID.
Registration for 2% of taxes
To receive 2% of taxes you must register in the list of recipients with a notary. The condition is that the association has existed for at least a year (which is why Ready Made associations are advantageous).
